Job Description
Purpose of the job
The Category Buyer Commerce ensures the timely availability of selected materials & services against an acceptable price and quality, assuring that all Sales & Marketing related purchases
are in line with Heineken’s requirements and standards.
He or she also ensures the alignment with the relevant internal and external stakeholders. Purchases in the Commercial area are related to locally sourced POS materials, Draft Installations, Fridges, Outlet decoration, Media & Production and Marketing Research services. Purchases are often managed as projects, involving the right stakeholders and strictly monitoring budget and delivery timing.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure on-time delivery of purchases
- Assures procurement of materials and services at the right price, right quality and delivery schedule
- Coordinates Sourcing/production of materials & services and monitors delivery
- Anticipates and detects problems that may interrupt delivery and proactively advises solutions and supply alternatives
Supplier Selection and Development
- Is able to create a Sourcing Plan for its own Product & Service Category, clearly describing the sourcing tactics, supplier- and cost development
- Records relevant supplier information in a Supplier database
Cost-effective procurement of materials or services
- Creates a competitive environment through tendering and structured negotiations
- Assures execution of the purchasing procedure ensuring transparency in all business deals
- Reports the historical and expected financial performance of the relevant categories
Contracting & Contract Management
- Leads the creation of solid contracts in line with the Heineken Standards and in cooperation with Legal Affairs
- Ensures both the supplier and the Brewery work according to the conditions and agreements set in the Contract
- Ensures proper administration and archiving of supplier contracts
- Monitors and reports supplier performance
New Product Development
- Uses knowledge of the supply market in developing new products. Close cooperation with the relevant Business owner and Quality Department
- Seeks new suppliers or manufacturers that can meet newly required specifications and delivery schedules
Risk Assessments
- Evaluates risks of doing business with relevant suppliers
- Obtains insight into the financial health of suppliers
- Assures suppliers work according to Heineken’s Supplier Code of Conduct
Ordering and Delivery
- Raises Purchase Orders and monitors delivery timing
- Cooperates with Finance to ensure payment of goods and services delivered
- Creates insight into the required cash flow for the Finance Department
Perform other activities as assigned by line manager
Job Requirement
Education
- Bachelor or Master Degree in Business Administration or Economic
Experience
- 3 – 5 years relevant experience on the supply-side (Purchasing) in an Industrial environment in Ethiopia
