Position – Public Health Officer
ROLE PURPOSE: The purpose of the public health officer position is to Improve MHNT services through the provision of community mobilization. She/he provides overall technical organizational support and plays facilitation role in communities she/he is assigned including awareness creation and linkages of behavioral change through education information and communication. She/he supports people’s empowerment collective action and solidarity. Facilitates and encourages active participation of and networking between individuals and communities in recognizing problems identifying solutions and implementing project activities related to the identified solutions. Establishes and maintains close working relationship with IDPs in her/his working area in order to ensure that the messages are disseminated and understood at all levels. Build capacities of the community and institutions. She/he will be the link between the project and the community to ensure implementation of MHNT interventions.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Mobilize community for implementation of MHNT project
Facilitates in the identification and prioritization of activities and targeting for primary health intervetions
Ensures that the plan at IDP site is prepared with full participation of the community and partners;
Facilitates community meetings and community action plan (CAP) preparation and ensure that the participation of each beneficiary and community groups in the plan for their respective kebeles and villages;
Facilitates and ensure that the participation of each beneficiary and community groups in implementation monitoring and evaluation of CAP for their respective kebeles and villages;
Work with community leaders elders and government staff and acts as a catalyst in initiating action and generating enthusiasm for change in communities by performing demonstrations and organizing and leading training sessions;
Prepares final action plan of their respective kebeles and villages by breaking down in to quarters and mo
nths and submit it to her/his supervisor
Organizes and facilitates Information Education and Communication (IEC) sessions/behavioural change communication sessions with community members
Create smooth work relationship with IDPs committee HWs and HEWs on mobilization linkage
Arranges/facilitates cross visits and conduct capacity building on site trainings for community leaders committees elders youth groups fodder production and marketing groups members and representatives and other members;
Maintains good relationship with governmental and locally established iIDPs’ nstitutions for the smooth implementation MHNT service package;
Closely works with government counterparts and links the activities of the community with the relevant bodies;
Develop partnership with grass root level stakeholders for the sustainability of programs;
ensures beneficiaries have access to all avaialable MHNT primary health services ;.
Collects basic information from the IDP community document the information and practices local practices that are best performing to the local conditions.
Prepares daily weekly monthly and quarterly plans on her/his activities and submit to her/his supervisor;
In order to be successful you will bring/have: QUALIFICATION
Minimum of Bachelor in public health nursing health education /environmental health.
Experience: Minimum three years working experience with similar position .
Experience in community setups is mandatory.
Working with NGO is adavanatagous
Solid technical skill on community mobilization.
Demonstrated skills in IEC/BCC.
Strong computer (Microsoft skills) and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Good command in written and spoken English and Local language.
Good human relation skills.
Respect of Save the Children rules by anyone visiting the program;
Willingness to work under pressure and extra hours
